Question: A while ago you wrote about a test that new drivers have to get a minimum score of 80% in order to pass. I took the test and there were at least 2 road signs in it that I had never seen before. I'm worried that there are other signs I wouldn't recognize and wonder if there is a reference that I can use to look them up.
It's important to me to keep up good driving habits and to make sure I'm well informed.
Road Signs: Take the Test
ICBC has a 25 question road sign recognition test on their website. There are almost 200 questions in the bank and the questions will change each time you take the test.
Manual of Standard Traffic Signs & Pavement Markings
Probably the best reference on road signs for our province is the Manual of Standard Traffic Signs & Pavement Markings. This 244 page publication is based on the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Canada published by the Transportation Association of Canada:
It guides the use of road signs, traffic signals, pavement markings and other devices that inform travellers about road regulations, hazards and temporary conditions. It helps Canada’s federal, provincial, territorial and municipal governments to apply traffic control devices in a consistent and harmonized manner, which is an important factor in road safety.
The Catalogue of Traffic Signs
The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure publishes the Catalogue of Traffic Signs for BC. This information is divided into sections by sign type. Regulatory and warning signs
The Learn to Drive Smart Manual
Much less technical is chapter 3 of Learn to Drive Smart. This is our provincial driving guide and it gives a quick overview of the most important signs and markings for drivers who are studying to obtain their first driver's licence.

The answer gives good references to information on all the signs. It's also worth mentioning that the two signs with nothing on them the questioner had never seen before are not signs that anyone will see other than in the test. They want to know if you can identify what type of sign the shape indicates.
