Q&A - Student from Alberta

image of N and L Driver signs for BCHi there, I currently have an Alberta L, that is going to expire soon. I just moved to B.C and am planning on staying here for some schooling, and am wondering if I am allowed to take a British Columbia N drivers test without retaking my L? Or do I have to take my Alberta license and transfer it over?

VIEWPOINT - The Cost of Following the Speed Limit

SoapboxI am 79 years old and I consider myself a very safe driver. I have driven hundreds of thousand of miles, from city bus in Edmonton, to semi trailer from Edmonton to Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Fort Mac. and Yellow Knife, and thousands of miles by private auto. I have never been the cause of an accident, and I have only gotten one (1) speeding ticket. That was not entirely my fault.

Q&A - Trial Adjourned by Crown

Q&A ImageI was ticketed for speeding and contested the ticket.  I recieved my trial date notice and wasn't able to make that date.  I then applied to change the date and was approved.  After that, the ticketing officer called (my wife answered) and wanted to change the new date.  He said he would call back as he needed to speak with me, but I never heard from him.

CASE LAW - R v Dickson

BC Courts Coat of ArmsThis Supreme Court case from 2003 is useful to illustrate two topics: lane splitting by motorcyclists is illegal in BC and traffic court justices may prohibit drivers based on a bad driving record and have the prohibition upheld by the higher courts.
